This publication is designed to help you create an interdisciplinary study of the Lake Champlain Basin. Its chapters on the Basin's Geology, Geography, History, Nautical Archeology, Living Treasures, and Ecology contain activities and informational essays written for the teacher and student. This is an opportunity to create curriculum, not a curriculum itself. One reader likened This Lake Alive to a kitchen cupboard, not a recipe book.

Activities are presented with the middle level learner in mind but can be adjusted to any age—including adults.
