Educator Programs

Interested in learning how child nutrition programs are implementing culturally responsive practices? Join Vermont FEED, our partnership project with NOFA-VT, for a panel of three school meal experts from Vermont and Maine to find inspiration!

Our speakers will share powerful, stories that explore the many dimensions of what culturally relevant food can mean in schools, including implementing halal meal programs to meet students' needs, weaving personal cultural foodways into the lunch line to celebrate diversity, and an early childhood perspective on honoring a wide array of family cultures through a shared love of food.

Speakers:

  • Somaia Azemi, Food Service Staff at Windham Southeast Supervisory Union, Brattleboro, VT
  • Mary Emerson, School Nutrition Director, Westbrook School District, Westbrook, ME
  • Jackie Reno, Executive Director, The Janet S Munt Family Room, Burlington, VT
