Ben Freeman

Ben worked for over 25 years as a teacher, administrator and change facilitator promoting education for sustainability and social justice. During this time, Ben helped launch two innovative educational ventures as a pioneer faculty and administrator at The Island School in the Bahamas, and as the founding Director of Burr and Burton Academy’s Mountain Campus in southern Vermont. More recently, Ben helped launch and coordinate Vermont Learning for the Future, a statewide collective impact network designed to accelerate change in Vermont’s public education system with a focus on equity, sustainability and joy. Ben continues to support education change work across Vermont today as an education consultant, facilitator, and project collaborator. Ben serves on multiple boards, including a philanthropic foundation, his local public school board and town selectboard.
