Position Title:   Seasonal Welcome Booth Ambassador

Supervisor:  Welcome Center & Farm Store Manager

Employee Status  Seasonal, Part Time

Location:  On-site (1611 Harbor Rd, Shelburne, VT 05482)

Start & End Date:  May 1 - October 31

Salary Range:  $16.50/hour

Schedule:  Sunday, Monday & Thursday, 9:30am - 4:00pm. Weekends and holidays are required to be considered for the role.

Who We’re Looking for

You will directly support the mission of Shelburne Farms by connecting our visitors and guests with the programs offered across the farm, and the many ways to explore the farm. 

Our Welcome Booth is more than a place to learn about Shelburne Farms, it is also where we inspire learning about sustainability. Working with the Welcome Center team, you will provide exceptional, culturally responsive customer service practices. 

 

What You’ll Do

  • Welcome visitors to Shelburne Farms, answer questions, and assist in way finding at the start of our trails
  • Answer phone calls and in-person inquiries by representing the guest services for all farm services, programs, and activities at Shelburne Farms.
  • Operate Point of Sales (POS) system to process donations
  • Support our continuous effort to build and sustain a welcoming and diverse working and learning environment for all visitors, guests, and staff.

 

Core Qualifications

  • Inclusive & welcoming to all: Committed to translating the values of equality into action as we foster a welcoming working and learning environment for all program participants, guests, and staff. Be comfortable working, learning from, and engaging with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to schedule: All Welcome Booth staff are required to work some, if not most, weekends and holidays throughout the busy season (May - October), and a minimum of 10 hours/week.
  • Mission-Aligned: Your primary focus is listening to, learning from, and supporting all folks who engage with our Welcome Booth in a meaningful way that aligns with our mission and core values.
  • Receptive & open: Skilled in graciously receiving feedback from colleagues and management and open to continued professional learning.

 

Additional Valued Qualifications 

  • Some experience with a POS system, which we use to process donations 

 

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work in an open air booth, without heat or air conditioning, in a variety of seasons and weather conditions.
  • Carrying trash and recycling up and down stairs.
  • Commitment to contribute to and maintain a tidy shared workspace.
  • Working in varied weather conditions.
  • Move over uneven terrain.
